Tuesday, May 16  •  Pre-Conference Session
This session will provide board members with an understanding of their roles and responsibilities, especially those unique to serving on the board of a community action agency. This session will include an overview of the procedures boards should use to ensure proper board composition and functioning; obligations of individual board members to each other and their organization; an overview of ROMA Next Generation; and the importance of board engagement in assessment, strategic planning, fiscal planning and oversight, and evaluation of agency efforts and outcomes.

Hot off the presses from ANCRT, CAP, and NASCSP! This session will explore the implications of ROMA Next Gen on agency plans, data systems, programs, and staff. It will also provide an overview of the soon-to-be-released ROMA Next Generation training and technical assistance videos, training modules, and toolkits.

Community Senior Resource Network  •  Bernie Quell, Arkansas DHS Division of Aging and Adult Services

There are initiatives at the Federal and State level to promote the public/private partnership to create a sustainable person-driven long-term support system for seniors and adults with disabilities. This presentation will focus attention on the utility of local Community Senior Resource Networks.

Regular assessment of needs and resources at the community level is the foundation of Community Action and a vital management and leadership tool that is used across the organization and utilized by the community to set the course for both CSBG and all agency resources. Gain understanding of the intent and definition of the standard requiring CNAs; identify materials needed to document compliance with the standard; and learn about resources that can help with compliance and improve performance.
